Tamanui kokako displays and childrens book.
Pukeariki have developed a children’s display around the Taranaki kokako story. This details the survival of the Taranaki kokako lineage through Tamanui, and his descendants return to Parininihi.
The display includes an interactive game aimed at educating children about the threats that Kokako face. Alongside the display is a short film produced by Keith Finnerty that shows the capture of Tamanui and describes the work carried out at Tiritiri Matangi to ensure the survival of his offspring until Parininihi is ready to welcome them home.
A children’s ebook is being commissioned on the story.
